Immersive Interaction & VR

We build immersive environments that enable safe, repeatable training and interaction evaluation. Our VR/XR work supports speech-related scenarios (e.g., presentations) and applied settings where human behaviour, voice, and interaction design must be tested before real-world deployment.

Solutions and outcomes

• Immersive speech scenarios for presentation rehearsal and communication practice under realistic conditions.

• Controlled simulations to observe behaviour and interaction patterns during complex tasks.

• Industrial training and visualisation experiences, including prior work supporting electric vehicle battery manufacturing training.

In development now

• Early VR prototypes for speech-in-context (audience, setting, and task difficulty can be varied safely).

• Scenario-based capture of voice and behavioural signals to support analysis and design refinement.

• Modular Unity-based environments that can scale from proof-of-concept demos to student projects and research studies.

Current interests and next directions

• Speech under pressure: studying how scenario demands influence fluency, timing, and communication strategy.

• Human–machine interaction evaluation in simulated environments (including driving or operator scenarios where voice interaction is relevant).

• Emotion-aware and adaptive interaction design based on observed behavioural and vocal response patterns.

Responsible use

• VR is used as a scenario and evaluation platform; it is not presented as a replacement for professional care.

• Driving-related simulations are framed for safe research and interaction design, not for real-world driving instruction.
