Speech & Communication

We design digital tools that help capture, understand, and communicate patterns in speech. Our focus is on making speech analysis practical and interpretable—supporting early exploration of fluency, timing, and clarity across real-world speaking situations.

Solutions and outcomes

• Speech recording and session management for structured tracking over time.

• Clear summaries that highlight potential difficulty zones (e.g., interruptions, hesitation, irregular timing) in a user-friendly way.

• Visual and text-based outputs that support discussion, reflection, and iterative improvement.

In development now

• Mobile and web application workflows for recording and organising speech samples.

• Early-stage analysis and reporting components for identifying and visualising speech patterns.

• Optional multimodal capture (audio with camera cues) where appropriate to better understand speaking behaviour.

Current interests and next directions

• User-centred speech feedback that is easy to interpret and suitable for early trials and research studies.

• Context-aware analysis (e.g., formal vs informal speaking, quiet vs busy settings) to understand how environments affect speech.

• Integration with scenario-based evaluation, including controlled immersive simulations (see VR focus area).

Responsible use

• Positioned as research-led support and awareness tools; not framed as clinical diagnosis.

• Designed with privacy, consent, and responsible data handling in mind.
